Over a year ago, I wrote a post about how bad the service is at NY Cake Supplies. Despite that and high prices, I’ve still been shopping there. (By the way, never buy anything perishable there because they don’t care about selling expired product. Only buy supplies!) I don’t really have another choice.

One night, I was surfing the web and found a cake supplies store in Queens, Pattycakes Pattycakes. I was so excited and dragged Lon along with me to check it out. The place looks old and clustered. They have tons of very tacky inventory. But, if you know what you are looking for, they still have lots of useful supplies and the guy there was very helpful. I was a bit annoyed that most items didn’t have prices on them but he didn’t mind checking every price for me. I think everything is cheaper here but you’ll have to be buying enough to make it worth the trip out to Jackson Heights. (They do have an on-line store, but I have not tried buying anything on it.)

I got 3 different cupcake/muffin liners, (I was excited to see Dora the Explorer because my niece’s birthday is coming up.) pearlized sprinkles, silver sugar balls, trick sparkler candles, and a 14-inch polyurethane pastry bag for $20.67 (including tax). I’m sure I will be going again.
