Ice (our Jack Russell Terrier) and I went to work with Lon today, in Dayton, New Jersey, where the Folica warehouse is. There’s trees and grass here, a totally different scene from the Manhattan office in Midtown, Manhattan. Ice has played fetch at least 4 times already today, making this her favorite place on Earth already. I took a short nap in the grass. Yeah, this city girl appreciates nature and loves sunlight.

For lunch, we decided to pick some stuff up at J & D Italian Deli/J & D Italian Specialties/J & D’s Italian-American Deli 355 Applegarth Road, Monroe Township, NJ 08831. The name is different depending on which sign or menu you look at.  Lon and his co-workers get sandwiches from them pretty frequently.

I’m not a deli sandwich person so I got the Lasagna and ended up unhappy. The noodles were too soft. The sauce was too salty, but if you didn’t eat it with enough sauce, it was too dry.

Lon got one of their huge heros, the Italian Stallion Hero. The bread was fresh with a crisp crust. The meats and cheeses were fresh and piled on neatly and generously. It was $8.99 and roughly 12 inches long!

A sausage and peppers focaccia also caught Lon’s eye, but it was pretty mediocre.

Lon has been telling me how good the food has been out here, but so far I’m not impressed. I’m a lot harder to please than Lon but let me know if you think you can impress me around these parts and I might just show up.
